GNU+Linux needs Certified Compatible Hardware

Ever bought a Logitech wireless mouse and found that it doesn't work with your GNU+Linux distro (like Ubuntu) ?

Ever bought a printer like Epson WF-2630 which has a scanner and multi-page document scanner on the top only to find that they aren't compatible?

We live in a world where these products we need to use exist, but can't be used. In the case of the Epson there isn't even a workaround like "Scan to USB stick".

Can the Linux Foundation introduce a new OpenCertified logo?

Who's next to join the EU enlargement?

We've got Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania lined up already. Euromed

Is Moldova next?

The Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran after?

Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon and Israel might request too.

NB. Algeria left EU by default when it separated with France in 1962, perhaps it regrets that.

Instrumented C

Microsoft have checked C. I'd go one step further and instrument every build. Cause a run-time exception assert every time there is a fault with a full stack trace.

Copy paste standard format for numbers

Do any of you work with money on spreadsheets and online banking?
It's amazing there isn't a standard format for values.
Some banks want to separate out the pounds and pence (dollars and cents), some don't like commas. Makes it error prone to copy a number from one place, to another, because the human needs to manually paste different bits, and remove commas

I propose a standard copy-paste friendly format

So instead of 1,671.67 we have [1,671.67]. the user only needs to copy the whole amount, including the square brackets. Then the banks, and the spreadsheet will know that it is a number, and the comma can be removed by the software.
